Fat Tire Weekend

Saltyfork Fat Tire Festival - Near Snowshoe West Virginia

Pocahontas Trails has brought mountain bike racing back to Slatyfork, WV in an expanded three day event, August 21-23 2015. This summer the Slatyfork Fat Tire Weekend features a Short Track race on Friday, a WVMBA Ultra Series Race on Saturday and finishes out the weekend with an Enduro on Sunday. The Enduro is the WVMBA Series Championship Race, capping off a new WVMBA series – look for the top riders to compete in a tough race. The combination of the there races gives the participants a chance to truly be “King & Queen of the Hill” for the man or woman that can best all three events. This race series truly showcases what Slatyfork XC riding is all about – scenic single track, challenging rock gardens, 100 year old rail grades with the original ties still in place, spruce forest and spectacular views.

Camping is available at Elk River Touring Center, Tea Creek Campground and in the field at the start area on Mine Rd. Camping at Elk River is family friendly and we ask that you respect their property and the rules set forth upon checking in. There will be no open fires allowed, they will have a campfire for you to enjoy. The Mine rd. area is a large field with no access to water or showers, but it does put you right at the start line for Saturday and Sunday. Tea Creek Campground is located at the end of stage 3 on the Enduro and makes it ideal for pre riding stages 2 and 3 the day before. If you camp at Tea Creek be sure to leave enough time to get back over to the start in the morning, it is a ways around on the road by car.

Not interested in camping. Try one of the local lodging options. www.snowshoemtn.com or www.snowshoerentals.com
